The Birth of Fringe
In 2021, we realized there was a gap in meeting the needs of surface measurement while being involved in the development of new manufacturing paradigms across the field of telescopes. There are freeform surfaces, surfaces at varying states of specularity, or even surfaces that aren’t designed to be specular at all. We discovered that highly accurate and precise methods that are reliable, fast, and easy to use simply didn’t exist.
Without metrology, we had nothing to use for supporting manufacturing research. If you can’t measure it, you can’t make it! We set out to develop our own tool, combining concepts from photogrammetry, interferometry, and fringe projection profilometry, to produce a measurement system with unparalleled accuracy and precision, scalable to a variety of surface sizes, shapes, and types and delivers one-of-a-kind results, revealing surface properties that go unseen by other methods.
Our goal is to supply customers with an affordable, extremely accurate, and easy-to-use customizable measurement method, so they don’t have to build their own like we did. We understand that manufacturing challenges often come with challenging measurement requirements. With Fringe, these will no longer be challenges, they will be opportunities.
